\nThe Clinical Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support within an outpatient practice. This position works closely with providers, patients, and care teams to deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining efficient office operations. \nFamily Medicine- Chenango Bridge:\n
\nGuthrie Chenango Bridge Family Medicine provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages, from children to older adults. As a Clinical Assistant, you play an important role in helping patients and families receive the care they need throughout every stage of life.\n
\n
\nThe practice offers primary care services, routine checkups, and ongoing health management. This variety gives Clinical Assistants the opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical and patient care skills while supporting diverse patient needs.\n
\n
\nPosition Summary:\n
\nPerforms duties of a clinical and clerical nature. Maintains records and applies knowledge and skills to run a full functioning office for one or more Providers in Clinic. Assists professional staff by performing routine duties in caring for patients.\n
\nEducation, License, Certification:\n
\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\n
\nExperience:\n
\nKnowledge of medical terminology, ability to communicate and excellent customer service skills a must. Must be dependable, professional, flexible and able to multi‐task.\n
\nEssential Functions:\n
\n- Interviews patient to obtain medical history.\n
\n- Determines vital signs, (weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc) and documents in the patient’s medical record.\n
\n- Assists provider during exam and treatment.\n
\n- Directs patient to examination room and prepares patient for examination and treatment.\n
\n- Performs liaison duties between patients, Providers, hospital staff, etc.\n
\n- Process ancillary reports and all other patient results to the provider for review and assists with patient communication.\n
\n- Responsible for greeting patients and updating various pertinent information into the patient’s medical record.\n
\n- Routes patient after exam to proper area for visit completion.\n
\n- May be required to do phlebotomy.\n
\n- May perform high level disinfection, based on departmental equipment\n
\nOther Duties:\n
\n- Answers telephones and schedules patient appointments.\n
\n- Takes messages of a medical nature (requests for prescription refills, test results, etc).\n
\n- Performs other clerical functions as necessary.\n
\n- Exhibits good telephone etiquette.\n
\n- Quotes patient self‐pay balances at time of scheduling.\n
\n- Informs patients of their financial obligations.\n
\n- Directs patients to the patient representative for assistance with their account.\n
\n- Applies principles of disinfection/sterilization/disease transmission/universal precautions as per clinic and manufacturer guidelines.\n
\n- Assists in maintaining appropriate level of supplies.\n
\n- Attends and participates in Department meetings, along with contributing to department/office goals.\n
\n- Become familiar with ICD‐9 and CPT coding.\n
\n- Cleans, stocks, and prepares exam rooms.\n
\n- Coordinate patient appointments for X‐ray, CT scans, Physical Therapy, etc. as ordered by the providers.\n
\n- Assists with obtaining and processing referral and pre‐certification requirements.\n
\n- Maintains confidentiality, respect and consideration of patients and others.\n
\n- Applies Guthrie values (patient centeredness, teamwork, excellence) when performing daily tasks.\n
\n- Maintains equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and clinic policies and procedures.\n
\n- Performs and documents quality control on equipment as required.\n
\n
\nPay ranges from $17.40-$25.66 based on experience\n
\n
