Job Description

Salary: $85,000 - 125,000 per year Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or an equivalent engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Experience level ranging from recent graduate to 10 years of experience
  • Experience working on integrated project teams using systems engineering and project management processes
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, collaborative approach and experience in dynamic work environments
  • Preferred: Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering, SysML, MATLAB Stateflow, or systems analysis
  • Preferred: Familiarity with launch vehicles, spacecraft, and integrated avionics and software
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship is required
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, manage, validate, and verify Mission and Fault Management requirements supporting Vehicle and Mission Management system specifications
  • Design, model, and test algorithms for vehicle events and sequences, including inter-system constraints, prerequisites, event triggers, and command requirements for nominal and off-nominal operations
  • Apply knowledge of aerospace vehicle subsystems to develop and analyze system functions and operating parameters during pre-flight and flight phases
  • Assess hazards, monitored conditions, measurements, and failure modes to design suitable automated and operational responses
  • Coordinate with vehicle elements, contractors, and stakeholder organizations to integrate fault management principles into vehicle design, interfaces, and operations
  • Attend recurring vehicle, discipline, and subsystem meetings with relevant technical, operational, safety, crew, payload, and contractor stakeholders
  • Present technical findings and contribute to discipline-, project-, and program-level reviews, document reviews, and issue resolution

We combine small-business agility with large-company capabilities and support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as national defense work for the Missile Defense Agency and Department of Defense. In this Aerospace Systems Engineer role, you will support the definition, design, development, analysis, testing, and integration of Mission and Fault Management systems for launch vehicles and spacecraft. The role is based in a general office environment and involves work at NASA facilities, regular weekday hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., minimal overtime as needed, and domestic travel. The work includes extended periods of sitting, engineering and report-writing tasks, and use of standard office equipment. We consider education, specialized technical expertise, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, and contractual or funding requirements when determining compensation.
